Janet started her career in the legal field after receiving an Associates Degree in 1988 as a secretary in a one lawyer firm. Within her first year, she realized law school would be in her future. She attended SUNY Oswego part-time, at night to earn her bachelors while still working for the same firm. While continuing to work as a paralegal, she attended Syracuse University School of Law where she was an editor of the Syracuse University Law Review.

Janet was admitted to practice law in 2000.  Janet is actively involved in a number of professional organizations including the American Association for Justice, the New York State Academy of Trial Lawyers, the Onondaga County Bar Association and the Women’s Bar Association of the State of New York.  She has served on various committees of the Central New York Women’s Bar Association and was their President during 2005 - 2006. She continues to serve on the Judicial Screening Committee interviewing individuals seeking election to the courts in Onondaga and the surrounding counties.

Janet takes the obligations of her profession seriously and has served as a volunteer lawyer for Vera House helping those affected by domestic and sexual violence and represents clients free of charge through the Say Yes Pro Bono Law Clinic.
