Man suffers infection, toe amputations due to nursing negligence

Doctors in New York and across the nation go through years of medical training and experience so that they can effectively diagnose and treat patients. Unfortunately, a patient's condition can be misdiagnosed, which can lead to serious complications down the road. In some cases, health care professionals may not adequately monitor their patients, which can also result in health complications due to nursing negligence.

A health and rehabilitation center from another state is facing a medical malpractice lawsuit from one of its former residents. The plaintiff asserts that he was a resident at the facility from the beginning of May 2012 to mid-July of that same year. He claims that the medical professionals at the health and rehab facility did not adequately monitor and care for him. Because of their alleged failure to provide adequate medical care, he suffered an infection in two of toes.

The infection became so bad that it turned into necrosis. This required that he have his two infected toes removed. The amputation occurred on July 21, 2012.

New York patients who feel that they have been the victim of nursing negligence or have lost a loved one due to the negligence of a health care professional may benefit from understanding that they may have legal options. Victims may be able to seek financial restitution for any loss and damages that they have suffered via a claim in civil court. With a medical malpractice suit like this one, it may not only compensate the victim for the harm that was caused to them, but it can also ensure that the health professionals provide adequate care in the future.
