Jury rules against lung specialist in wrongful death case

Sometimes, a patient will experience problems following a surgery or medical procedure. When such problems aren't taken care of in a timely manner, the results can be disastrous. Unaddressed medical problems following a surgery or medical procedure sometimes even cause a patient to die. Thus, it is very important that patients here in New York are properly monitored following a surgery or medical procedure. When a patient dies due to a failure to properly monitor, the patient's family may be able to pursue a wrongful death lawsuit against the medical professionals responsible for this medical negligence.

Recently, in another state, a jury issued a verdict in a wrongful death case involving an alleged failure to monitor.

The case involved a man who underwent a medical procedure called a bronchoscopy at a Pennsylvania hospital in March 2008. The procedure was done for diagnostic purposes. The man died a few hours after the procedure.

The man's wife alleged that the doctor who performed the procedure, a lung specialist, negligently failed to have the man monitored following the procedure. She claimed that proper monitoring could have prevented the man's death.

The man's wife sued the doctor in relation to these allegations. As we mentioned above, a decision was recently made by the jury in this case. The decision was reached after a five-day trial. According to the article on triblive.com which reported on this case, the jury ruled against the doctor. In this verdict, the jury granted a monetary award to the deceased man's wife.
