Medical malpractice suit filed in death of young doctor

A young doctor, fresh out of medical school, is perhaps the last person whom one would suspect of becoming a victim of medical malpractice. The average person might think that a doctor would receive special attention when he or she falls ill. This appears to have not been the case when a newly graduated doctor visited her local emergency room in another state. New York residents who feel that they or a family member has been a victim of medical malpractice may want to follow the outcome of this recently filed lawsuit.

After suffering a headache for more than a week, the young woman sought treatment at her local medical center. She was prescribed medication for pain relief and some tests were run. However, a CT scan was not ordered until she had been at the hospital for almost two days. Additionally, she was not seen by a neurologist during this time period.

When her condition worsened, she was eventually transferred to another medical center. She then began hemorrhaging and suffered a stroke resulting in brain damage. According to her family, her condition was caused by a blood clot that should have been detected when she first came to the hospital.

Mistakes in the workplace are fairly common; however, when these mistakes occur within the medical workplace, tragedy often results. Minor injuries, permanent injuries, or even death can occur. The possibility of medical malpractice can be a concern for New York residents and their families. Depending on the circumstances, there are available options to be considered, such as seeking restitution in a wrongful death lawsuit.
