Alleged surgical error resulted in nail tech suffering injuries

As many individuals in New York may be aware, many occupations require the use of workers' hands and arms in order to perform their jobs satisfactorily. When an injury to the hand or arm occurs, it can often render them unable to perform their jobs. According to a lawsuit filed at the beginning of May 2014, it appears that a physician surgical error has led to a woman being unable to work as a nail tech.

After undergoing an angiogram, it was determined that the woman was apparently suffering from pseudoaneurysm. Reports indicate that she needed surgery to treat the problem. After the decompression surgery, the woman's right arm was firm and swollen, according to a nurse.

The woman alleges that the injuries in her arm were due to the physician waiting nearly 10 hours following the angiogram to actually perform the surgery. She incurred excessive medical expenses and was unable to enjoy life the way she could prior to the incident. She is claiming that she also suffered mental and emotional anguish and a loss of income. She is seeking to obtain more than $1 million in damages.

When a mistake occurs during surgery or related to surgery, it can have a direct impact on one's life. It can create the need for subsequent surgeries, excessive medical expenses and more. However, in most cases, a surgical error is completely avoidable. When a patient or loved one in New York is harmed due to a medical staff's negligent or reckless acts, it may be possible to seek financial restitution in a court of law, as this woman is doing.
