As New York residents are aware, every surgery has its own share of risks. However, there are instances that a surgical mistake occurs when it could have been completely avoided. It appears that this may have been what happened with a man from another state during a routine kidney stone removal surgery.
A man recently underwent a routine surgery to remove kidney stones. Unfortunately, he alleges that the physician was negligent during the surgery. The doctor's alleged negligence reportedly caused the patient to be paralyzed from the waist down.
The man claims that he could not move his legs when he awoke from the surgery. Unfortunately, he is still paralyzed and is still unable to move his legs. He asserts that the paralysis occurred due to an injury to his spinal cord during the kidney stone operation.
The man's paralysis has likely left him unable to work. He has also certainly racked up a significant amount of medical bills from the traumatic incident. If the injury cannot be reversed, he may never be able to work again. His qualify of life has already been dramatically altered. Through the medical malpractice litigation, he is asking for both compensatory and punitive damages.
When a New York resident has been injured due to the apparent surgical mistake of a medical professional, it is important that all options are weighed. No one should have to go through such a traumatic incident and deal with the fall-out on their own.
